Nollywood actress Judy Austin has filed a ₦1 billion defamation lawsuit against veteran actress Rita Edochie (the aunt of her partner, Yul Edochie), as well as separate legal actions targeting her ex-husband, Emmanuel Obasi.
The legal escalation comes after months of highly publicized family disputes and online friction.
Case Against Rita Edochie
Judy Austin (listed in court documents as Mrs. Judy Austin Yul-Edochie) filed the Writ of Summons at the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) in Abuja. She is seeking:
- ₦1 billion in general damages for alleged defamation.
- A full retraction and public apology published in two national newspapers and across Rita Edochie’s social media channels.
- A perpetual injunction restraining Rita Edochie from publishing further defamatory statements.
- ₦50 million to cover the total cost of prosecuting the lawsui
